MaryAnn was born and raised in California where she started sewing her own clothes when she was in the seventh grade. After she was married and had children she chose to be a stay-at-home mom which lead her to not only make all of her children’s clothes but sew for others for ‘egg’ money.
After the kids left the house MaryAnn and her husband moved to Southern Utah where a good friend showed her how to sew quilts. It became such a passion that she bought a long-arm machine so she could not only make the quilt but also quilt them. It then turned into creating her own designs to personalize every quilt she made whether it was for a new baby, a bedroom, or a dog club.
Cathy, MaryAnn‘s “big” sister, began sewing and crafting in high school, eventually taking tailoring classes while in college. A lifelong love of fabric and crafts, led her to say “YES” to MaryAnn in 2008 when asked to join her in the quilting business Making Quilts.
Cathy has an embroidery machine now and uses her designs to embellish and personalize the many and varied quilting projects/orders that come their way. Even though the sisters lived in two different states at the beginning of the business, they’ve traveled together to quilt shows around the country, taking classes to perfect their trade. Now that the two studios are both in California, the sisters are ready and able to meet the needs of their customers in new and exciting ways.
